Community & Care
2023
Following the earthquake disaster that struck seven provinces in eastern Turkey on February 6, 2023, we took action to heal the wounds of the local community and reach those in need quickly. On the morning of February 7, with location guidance from İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Mr. Tunç Soyer, we transferred our mobile kitchen — equipped to serve 2,000 people a day with food supplements — from Çeşme, İzmir to İskenderun Arsuz by sea on the evening of February 7.
Our mobile kitchen began serving three hot meals a day on February 8 in the area within Arsuz-Ayla Naci Uyar Anatolian High School, where earthquake-affected residents were also housed in a tent city. Our mobile kitchen served hot meals to 2,000 people daily for three months, including Ramadan Bayram.
During this period, we also carried out rotating visits to the earthquake region with our volunteer staff. In the area where we were stationed, we tried to connect with and support everyone affected by the earthquake, young and old. In particular, we organized special activities so that our children — the future of our nation — could get through this period with as little psychological harm as possible. These included special celebrations for children staying in the tent city whose birthdays fell during that period, group activities on special days (cookie making, art activities, play hours, etc.), and our team members who voluntarily went to support school-age groups also helped in their lessons.
As Monreve, with our sense of social responsibility, we take pride in having touched many lives on this journey to support our immediate surroundings and our nation.
Arkas Life Center · İskenderun
Following the earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023 and affected more than seven provinces in the eastern region of our country, the Arkas Life Center — consisting of 260 containers — was completed in İskenderun District of Hatay under AFAD coordination by Arkas Holding to create more lasting solutions for earthquake victims in the medium term, and 1,000 people were settled there.
Drawing on our institution name "MON RÊVE," which means "my dream" in French, we opened the Monreve Library within the Arkas Life Center with the aim of enabling children to hold on to their dreams and pursue new ones here, guided by our sense of social responsibility. So that our children — the future of our nation — would not fall behind in their education and social and cultural development during and after this period, the library we established with 1,000 books collected at the Axa Sigorta Efeler League match in week 20 of Arkas Spor and 3,500 books we purchased for the project includes works ranging from literature to scientific publications, from coloring books to children's books, for all children and students aged 0–18.
With awareness of the responsibility we have undertaken, we continue our support.
